Junior Inter Regional Regatta 2003

Silver Medal - Womens J14 2X
Kayleigh Warwick & Jodie Mark

Cumbrian rowers Kayleigh Warwick and Jodie Mark beat off hot competition from top English youngsters to clinch silver medals.

The Brampton pair finished second in the Womens Junior 14 Double Sculls event at the Junior Inter-Regional Regatta at the National Watersports Centre in Nottingham.

The members of Talkin Tarn Amateur Rowing Club represented the north against 11 other regions and only missed out on the gold medal by a fraction of a second.

In the six-boat semi-final, they qualified with ease in first place.

In the final, they clocked three minutes and 47.3 seconds, but were pipped by Upper Thames, who won in three minutes 47.1 seconds with only a few inches separating both crews.

Jodie’s brother Danny Mark was part of a Mens Northern Junior Quadruple Sculls team, but they just failed to qualify for the final by finishing fourth in their heat.

However, they finished second in the ‘petite’ final for non-qualifiers and gained five crucial points for the north’s team.

Kayleigh and Jodie’s silver medal earned them 11 points and the 16 points from Talkin Tarn rowers helped the north win the runners-up spot.
